School Boards
Most schools have some form of shared governance to assist and support school leaders with the complex responsibility of leading their respective school communities. Boards can provide valuable expertise and counsel in matters of mission statement, financial development, and strategic planning.
Catholic Educational Services can provide consultative services for boards whether they be new and developing boards or established boards that seek a rejuvenation in their mission. One of the many ways Educational Services can assist is through the annual school board retreat.
Most schools begin the academic year with a retreat for the school's board. Usually the retreat is held off campus, often on a Saturday in late August or early September, and is facilitated by a consultant. Board retreats are held for any or all of the following reasons:
To develop school board goals & objectives for the new academic year.
To involve the board in the planning process.
To generate new ideas and perspectives.
To provide pre/in-service training for the board.
